Balance. Order. Contrasts. Duality. I continue to be fascinated with the simple and common, order and ordinary. There are fragments of larger stories here and glimpses of scenes. Edges, corners, and borders direct the viewers' attention to composition. Whether contrasting small sized images with large-scale vistas, narrative with pictorial elements, or representational and abstract details, balance remains an important part of my paintings. I am interested in quiet images of stillness and contemplative scenes, and often include clearly defined areas paired with areas of ambiguity.
