Travel provides a library of scenery that serves as raw source material for my oils and watercolors. Water and its surrounding landscape continue to be common subject matter for much of my work. The complexity of large vistas with cloudy skies has provided fresh territory for exploration. I am drawn to scenes of stillness and constructed compositions. Flattened details of shape, pattern, and light are often contrasted with representational elements.

"Art is the means we have of undoing the damage of haste. It's what everything else isn't."

Theodore Roethke, On Poetry & Craft
